Over the years, New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority(MTA) has adopted multiple sustainability initiatives throughout the business. For example, compact fluorescent light bulbs were installed at Grand Central Station, low-sulfur locomotive fuel and new M-8 cars featuring regenerating braking capabilities. MTA Metro-North Railroad President Peter Cannito stated, “We were doing a lot, and we’re finding there’s even more we do.”
