ITDP sustainable transport award
In response to the improvements in sustainability made by NYC in 2009 they were awarded the ITDP sustainable transport award. Institute for Transportation Development Policy award is given to cities who efforts in sustainability make cities more livable, equitable, sustainable and reduce carbon emissions. The ITDP aims to implement high quality transport systems that are sustainable and profitable to urban areas. The ITDP is an international nonprofit organization, when NYC was awarded the sustainable transport award it was the first city in the US to be recognized by the ITDP. ITDP works with urban planners, architects, transportation experts, and developers to make cities a better place to live.
